Nvidia and OpenAI Forge Direct Partnership in $100B AI Infrastructure Deal
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced a landmark shift in the company's relationship with OpenAI, marking their first direct procurement agreement. The chipmaker will supply hardware directly to OpenAI, bypassing previous cloud-based intermediaries like Microsoft Azure.
The partnership scales to unprecedented levels with Nvidia committing $100 billion toward building dedicated AI data centers for OpenAI. Initial deployments of 1 gigawatt computing capacity are slated for late 2026, eventually expanding to 10 gigawatts - equivalent to millions of GPUs working in concert.
Huang emphasized the strategic nature of the collaboration, noting Nvidia will assist OpenAI in developing self-operated cloud infrastructure. This vertical integration signals both companies' confidence in sustained AI growth, with Nvidia positioning itself as the backbone of next-generation artificial intelligence development.
